Most people conjure up the Palm pilot when the word PDA or original PDA are brought to bear. Most people don’t know what “Newton” was let alone know the name Mike Culbert.
Mike was a lifer at Apple. 25 years of major contributions to the iOS architectures, Newton designs and a host of hardware patents that have become so inherent in the mobile experience we absolutely assume they’ve always been there. (light sensors, rotation, powersave)
According to his friends, he was a “brilliant engineer, a wonderful human being.” He will be missed.
