Has HTC cracked the code on the ultimate smartphone? Many believe the HTC One M8 is the top dog at the moment, so naturally one has to ask if a move to plastic and a centered, flash-enabled front camera with software to match is the one-up (think voice enabled selfies)?
How do the two stack up? For one, the newbie isn’t going to launch across all carrier (cough-ATT-cough) The Desire Eye is a modified M8. It’s slightly bigger (taller, wider and thicker with a bigger screen), lighter (by 6g), and as the same Snapdragon 801 with 2GB of RAM. Yes, it’s plastic, but it’s also water resistant (IPX7) and has some brighter color options.
I’ll say this for it: it’s a pretty phone with everything I like about the original, save for the build. But then again, we all know what metal can do when it’s not made right, but HTC seems to know how to build them.
So what is it about the Eye that will make it popular (without doubt)? It’s YOU. It’s a better M8 with more selfie power. Good luck talking people out of that.
