An old favorite that’s proven too cushy for my older joints, Saucony’s have a special place in my heart. Seeing tiny versions on my daughters’ feet is also a source of pride for me. I love nothing more though, than a collaboration that takes these classics to a different place.
Streetwear brand Play Cloths has linked up with Saucony for a refreshing new take on Saucony’s popular Shadow 5000 sneaker. Nicknamed “Strange Fruit,” the uppers has been given a stark colorway treatment of either orange (really bright!), purple or gray, with all pairs sporting white midsoles with gum outsoles. Details include mini star cutouts uniformly scattered across the toe, a small, gold panel wrapping across the heel of the shoe, and finally a laser print of Saucony’s and Play Cloths’ logo on the shoe’s tongue. The shoes retail for $140 USD, and is available at your local Play Cloths or Saucony retailer Sneaker Politics, linked below.
