In all my years of gadget lusting one things remains brutally apparent. At some point you’re going to have to connect your device to a machine if you want to do something interesting with it. Sure, I’ve got wireless charging and FTP on my Android phone (currently an LG G3), but if I want to do development back into the computer it goes. Not just my phone, mind you – there are plenty of things that get connected. What they all have in common is that there typically USB. And what do we hate about USB cables? They break, you need to look at what you’re doing to plug them in, and finally they get lost. Apple had it right with reversible lightning, but what about the other end? For that matter, what about every other device? The weakest link ends up being THE link…

This week on Kickstarter the group “Made in College” is funding the BelayCords project – reversible USB charging cables for all sorts of devices including iPhone and Android phones. They’re not only reversible, as they come in a variety of woven (threaded or metal) varieties to make sure they last and don’t get lost. Excellent idea and a great execution with added flair. $30 will get you a chord of your choosing. Enjoy!
