After years of telling users to get as far from XP as they could, Microsoft has called it’s own bluff by patching the Internet Explorer 11 bug, including Windows XP. While many might call it altruistic or a final hurrah, the company has potentially undone all it’s efforts to have these user migrate and upgrade by enabling them to safely stay on Windows XP, for now.

For the user: better safe and all, but for Microsoft a massive face-palm in my opinion. I suspect that because they are still supporting the banks, and ATMs running XP, there was no compelling reason NOT to release the first patch to happen post end-of-life. Nonetheless, it wasn’t the smartest move.
