Stephen Colbert to Succeed David Letterman at CBS’ ‘The Late Show’ - TVLine

Ladies and gentleman (I use the term loosely to be sure), the days of the Johnny Carson Show are clearly past us. Folks like Leno and Letterman are retiring making way for a new generation of tell it like it is, late-night television shows. CBS announced today that Stephen Colbert has been tapped as the next host of the Late Show when David Letterman retires next year. If you’re expecting his crazed persona from the Colbert Report on Comedy Central, think again. He’s going straight folks.

TVLine has answered (somewhat) the first 5 questions that come to mind upon absorbing the news: 1) This 5-year deal will commence once Dave’s final broadcast schedule is put to paper. 2)Whether the show stays in NY is up in the air. 3)The WSJ tweeted that he won’t be channeling his ultra-conservative persona from his current show. 4) The Colbert Report will like end when he take the reigns from Dave. 5)Letterman is all smiles about the decision.

I’m actually kind of excited about it, but wonder – what is the REAL Stephen Colbert like?
