Blackberry’s QNX can be found underneath a lot of things. Take infotainment systems in cars for example (including the underpinning of Apple’s new CarPlay), defense systems, security, medical and even networking. But Vacuums? Now I’ve heard everything. Neato Robotics, a robotics company located in Newark, California, has chosen the QNX Neutrino operating system as the software platform for the new Neato BotVac series of robot vacuums due to its superior realtime performance and efficient use of system hardware, as well as for its flexibility to support new product features.
So there you have it – Beneath the hoods of fancy cars, aircraft carriers and the next generation of Roombas lies QNX. A decidedly different side of Blackberry.
